FP has been shown to have a high affinity for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which may be due to its ability to undergo resonance spectroscopy at higher frequencies than other compounds. FP can be synthesized by the reaction of 2,5-dichlorobenzene and diphenylmethane in the presence of carbonyl and acrylic acid.
