Product Information
- Zk-90055
- methyl 4-[2-(tert-butylamino)-1-hydroxyethyl]-7-hydroxy-1H-indole-2-carboxylate hydrochloride (1:1)
ZK-90055 is a peptide agonist that binds to the α2-adrenergic receptor and activates it. ZK-90055 has been shown to inhibit the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic nerve terminals in vitro. The binding of ZK-90055 to the α2-adrenergic receptor leads to an increase in intracellular cAMP levels, which activates protein kinase A. This activation leads to inhibition of the neuronal firing rate and increased blood flow.
ZK-90055 is a potent inhibitor of voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs). It inhibits VGSCs by binding to the extracellular domain of these channels, blocking their activity. This inhibition leads to reduced neurotransmitter release, decreased excitability, and reduced neuronal injury after a stroke.
ZK-90055 has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of both recombinant human amyloid precursor protein (APP) and Alzheimer's disease brain tissue
