The drug has been shown to be effective against chronic arthritis and atherosclerosis in vivo, with a possible use as an anti-inflammatory treatment for autoimmune diseases. Arglabin has been shown to inhibit the m2 phenotype of macrophages, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis at the ribosome level.
