CGS 12066B dimaleate is a 5-HT receptor agonist that is used to study the role of serotonin in the regulation of blood pressure. It has been shown to decrease blood pressure and heart rate in vivo models. CGS 12066B dimaleate binds to both 5-HT1 and 5-HT2 receptors, but with low potency. A whole-cell recording experiment showed that this drug inhibits ATP-sensitive potassium channels, which may be responsible for its pressor activity. This drug also has a stimulant effect on locomotor activity and dopamine release, which may be due to its binding to postsynaptic dopamine receptors.
