Description:PAT-048 is a molecule that has been shown to be effective in vitro for the treatment of scleroderma by inducing cell growth and collagen production. It activates signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) proteins, which activate gene expression and regulate cellular proliferation. In vitro studies have also shown that PAT-048 can induce the activation of STATs in red blood cells and in red blood cells treated with bleomycin. This drug is currently undergoing preclinical development, but it may be capable of treating other diseases such as arthritis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
