CU-CPT17e is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the C-terminal region of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) glycoprotein B. This antibody has been shown to activate CMV-specific T cells in vitro and in vivo, leading to an increase in the production of cytokines such as IFN-γ and IL-2. CU-CPT17e also induces apoptosis in HCMV infected monocytic THP1 cells. It has been hypothesized that this activation of apoptosis is due to CU-CPT17e binding to the molecule on the cell surface that activates proinflammatory responses.
