Hydroxyziprasidone is metabolized to ziprasidone in the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. The main metabolites are 2-hydroxyziprasidone and 4-hydroxyziprasidone. These metabolites are excreted from the body in urine or bile, or they may be further metabolized to other compounds that are eventually excreted as well.
