Product Information
2-Picolinic acid is a molecule that contains an anthranilic group. It is a metabolite of anthranilic acid, which is an endogenous compound and a natural constituent of human urine. The metabolism of anthranilic acid can be traced to the conversion to 2-picolinic acid by kynurenine hydroxylase, which converts the amino acid tryptophan into kynurenine. The enzyme 2-picolinic acid hydroxylase converts 2-picolinic acid back to anthranilic acid. 2-Picolinic acid has been found in granulomatous lesions and polymorphonuclear leukocytes in humans, as well as hematopoietic cells and serum levels in humans.
