It acts as a chimaeric antigen receptor and binds to the HSP90, preventing it from interacting with other intracellular targets. This binding prevents HSP90 from activating the signal transduction pathway that is required for dna replication. CRT5 has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in prostate cancer cells and risk group C colon cancer cells.
