Description:3-Ap-Me is a pro-apoptotic peptide that inhibits protein synthesis and mitochondrial cytochrome c release. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins necessary for cell division, such as Grp78. 3-Ap-Me also induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and mitochondrial membrane potential collapse, which leads to the activation of caspase-independent cell death in prostate cancer cells. 3-Ap-Me can be used to inhibit protein synthesis in cancer cells and may be a potential treatment for prostate cancer.
