Cerium(IV) fluoride is a compound with the chemical formula CeF4. It has an orange-yellow color and is insoluble in water. Cerium(IV) fluoride's thermal properties are low, with a melting point of 940°C and a boiling point of 1058°C. The optical properties of cerium(IV) fluoride are strong, with a refractive index of 1.5 at 589 nm and a molar extinction coefficient of 36,000 cm-1M-1 at 589 nm. Cerium(IV) fluoride has been shown to have transport properties such as diffusion, adsorption, and desorption on ion exchange resins and polymeric matrices. In addition, it has been shown to react with hydrochloric acid and fatty acids to form polymeric matrices.
