Ladanein is a natural product derived from the genus scutellaria. Ladanein is synthesized by the acylation of scutellarin with acetyl chloride. The compound has been shown to inhibit the replication of RNA, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds and act as an electron donor. Ladanein also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of other natural products, such as silymarin and curcumin, including low bioavailability and rapid elimination. Ladanein has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on cells in culture and can inhibit the growth of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells in vitro.
