2H-1-Benzopyran-3-carboxylic acid is a metabolite of the drug dapsone. It has an unknown mechanism of action, but it may work by suppressing the production of reactive oxygen species. 2H-1-Benzopyran-3-carboxylic acid has been shown to have an effect on the blood pressure and glomerular filtration rate in rats. This compound has also been shown to inhibit iron binding and damage tissue in rats. 2H-1-Benzopyran-3-carboxylic acid is found to be present in perennial ryegrass, where it may protect against herbivory.
