2,2-Diisobutyl-1,3-propanediol is a hydrocarbon with a molecular weight of 176.28. It is used as a solid catalyst for the synthesis of iodomethane from diethyl malonate and silicon tetrachloride. The alkylation reaction time can be increased to 12 hours by using 2,2-diisobutyl-1,3-propanediol as the extractant. This compound has high activity in the polymerization of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid at low temperatures, making it an ideal catalyst for these reactions.
