Isopropylidenylacetyl-marmesin is a naturally occurring coumarin that is found in the leaves of Psoralea corylifolia. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being an effective inhibitor of xanthine oxidase and peroxidase. Isopropylidenylacetyl-marmesin is also a precursor to psoralens, which are used in the treatment of skin disorders such as vitiligo, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. The condensation product of isopropylidenylacetyl-marmesin with malonic acid results in decursinol, which has been shown to have anti-fungal properties.
