Product Information
- 1-Pyrrolidinecarboxamide, N,N′-(4-methyl-1,3-phenylene)bis-
N,N′-(4-Methyl-1,3-phenylene)bis[1-pyrrolidinecarboxamide] (NPP) is an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It has been shown to have a protective effect against cerebral haemonchus and nematode infections in animals. NPP has also been shown to inhibit the activity of various enzymes such as cholinesterase, phosphodiesterase and monoamine oxidase. The drug has been evaluated for optimised efficacy in humans with cerebral cortex disorders. NPP is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which is found in high concentrations in the rat brain. This inhibition leads to increased levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is associated with learning and memory. In addition, NPP inhibits other enzymes that are involved in regulating cellular function such as phosphodiesterase and monoamine oxidase. It also inhibits human cell
