Tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)methane (TAPM) is a colorless, odorless solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It is a model system for polymers and has been used to study the effects of hydrogen bonding on morphology. TAPM has been used as a model system for polymers with phenyl groups and has shown selectivities for low detection levels and functional group reactions. TAPM can be used as an organic solution to extract hydrophobic compounds and can be desorbed from the surface of the solid phase microextraction fiber. The uptake of TAPM onto the surface of the fiber is dependent on its hydrophobicity.
