Product Information
±-Dihydrotetrabenazine-D7 is a specific ligand that binds to the dopamine transporter (DAT). It has been shown to selectively inhibit the transport of dopamine into the brain, and therefore has been studied as a potential drug for Parkinson's disease. In vivo studies have shown that ±-Dihydrotetrabenazine-D7 does not cross the blood-brain barrier, which makes it an attractive candidate for Parkinson's disease treatment. The unlabeled form of this compound is used in vivo because of its ability to be deuterated with hydrochloric acid. The reaction yield was found to be higher when ±-Dihydrotetrabenazine-D7 was deuterated. This ligand binds only to the DAT transporter type, which is responsible for transporting dopamine into cells.
