Product Information
Sculponeatin A is a natural product that is derived from the nasturtium plant. It has potent antibacterial and antitumor activity. Sculponeatin A inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. Sculponeatin A also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (e.g., ESX-1 secretion system protein) and inhibits cell growth in culture. Sculponeatin A activates sarmentose, which is a type of mycelial cord that provides support for climbing plants such as vines or lianas; these are called sarmentose plants because they have long, slender stems with many roots that cling to trees or rocks for support.
The root of the word “sculpture” comes from the Latin word “
