Description:FK-448 is an inhibitor of the enzyme trypsin, which is involved in the digestion of proteins. It binds to the active site of the trypsin molecule and inhibits its function. FK-448 has been shown to inhibit pancreatic and intestinal proteases, as well as proteolytic enzymes in animal homogenates. The mechanism by which FK-448 inhibits these enzymes is not known. This drug also has a high affinity for receptor binding sites, which may be due to its structural similarities with other drugs that bind to these receptors (e.g., erythromycin).
