Description:Ridogrel is a synthetic prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to the active form, ticagrelor. Ticagrelor is an antiplatelet drug that inhibits adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2), substances that are involved in platelet aggregation. Ridogrel has been shown to have activity index values of >0.5 for inflammatory bowel disease and experimental models of colitis. Ridogrel has been shown to be biocompatible with a polymer scaffold and does not show significant thermal expansion or change in physical properties after being placed in an environment mimicking the human body for 30 days. This drug has also been shown to increase the patency of a segment of bowel during experimental models of bowel disease.
