Its activity against Candida albicans was shown in a gas phase study and also in a conformational analysis. 1-Cyclopropyl-1H-imidazole has been found to be active against other fungi including Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Aspergillus niger. This triazole derivative inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the cytochrome P450 system and preventing the production of ergosterol, which is essential for fungal cell membranes.
