Coccineone B is a flavonoid extracted from the plant, Cocculus trilobus. This product has been shown to have anti-HIV activity in vitro and cell-based assays. It also has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that could be useful for treating HIV infection and cancer. Coccineone B is able to inhibit the replication of HIV by blocking reverse transcriptase. The compound also inhibits inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and TNFα, which are induced by HIV infection. Coccineone B has been shown to suppress the proliferation of human colon cancer cells in vitro studies.
