Product Information

Name:
M617
Description:

M617 is a cyclic peptide that is a potent inhibitor of galanin. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy and other neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. M617 binds to the receptor for galanin and blocks its binding site on the cell surface, thereby inhibiting the function of galanin. M617 also inhibits Jak2V617F activity and thus prevents activation of transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR). M617 has been shown to be an antidiabetic agent that regulates insulin secretion by acting on adipose tissue and pancreatic beta cells.
M617 has also been shown to have diagnostic properties, which may be due to its ability to bind to serum bile acids or act as a radioligand for imaging purposes.
