Zamanic acid is a natural product isolated from the leaves of plumeria. It was found to be an inhibitor of the enzyme glutathione reductase, which converts oxidized glutathione back into reduced form and is necessary for maintaining cellular GSH levels. Zamanic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in culture and has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
