PD173955 is a potent, selective and orally bioavailable inhibitor of the Abl kinase that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mouse models. PD173955 binds to the ATP-binding site of Abl kinase and blocks ATP binding, preventing the formation of an enzyme-substrate complex. PD173955 also inhibits colony-stimulating factor activity, which may be due to its inhibition of bcr-abl kinase activity.
