It works by inhibiting the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, which is responsible for protein degradation, and is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for other diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. In addition, topilutamide has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory effects. Topilutamide inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines by blocking the glucocorticoid receptors. This drug also causes cell death in prostate cancer cells by interfering with the production of e3 ubiquitin ligases. Topilutamide is insoluble in water and must be reconstituted with a diluent before it can be administered intravenously or orally.
