Product Information
2-{[(2S)-pyrrolidin-2-yl]formamido}acetic acid hydrochloride (FAAH) is a peptide derivative that inhibits motility of sperm. It is a noncompetitive inhibitor of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylcholine at cholinergic synapses. FAAH is also known to inhibit spontaneous motility in rats and activates the spontaneously motile cells in vitro. The hydrates of FAAH are 2-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)acetic acid and 2-[(1-hydroxyethyl)amino]acetic acid with a residue of formamide.
