Description:4-Aminocarbonylbenzenesulfonyl chloride is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. It is also used as a conditioning agent for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. The drug inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomal RNA and inhibiting protein synthesis. The drug also has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth through a number of other mechanisms, including inhibition of fatty acid metabolism, diahelical interactions with fatty acids, and inhibition of the production of inhibitory compounds. 4-Aminocarbonylbenzenesulfonyl chloride has been shown to be especially effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter aerogenes.
