Product Information
- Pyridine, 2,3-Dibromo-6-Chloro-
2,3-Dibromo-6-chloropyridine is a solid that fluoresces in the near infrared region. It has an absorption maximum at 611 nm and emission maxima at 581 nm, 632 nm, and 640 nm. The quantum yield of 2,3-dibromo-6-chloropyridine is 0.038 (in water). Fluorescence can be observed when it is dissolved in chloroform or ethanol or when it is heated to about 200°C. The molecule has a pentacyclic structure with methyl substituents on the aromatic ring. This fluoroquinolone inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA.
