Description:ADX88178 is a novel enantiomer of L-glutamic acid, which is currently being studied for its potential as an antidepressant drug. ADX88178 has been shown to produce locomotor effects in mice, and also has anti-inflammatory mechanisms. The drug binds to the 5-membered heteroaryl site on the glutamate receptor, which is not present in humans. This binding leads to increased serotonin levels in the brain and reduced inflammation, both of which are linked to depression and other psychiatric disorders. Preliminary studies have shown that ADX88178 may be effective against autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, as well as cancer.
