Product Information
Ikarugamycin is a natural product that inhibits cellular energy metabolism by inhibiting the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and other important metabolic intermediates. It is a potent inhibitor of the mitochondrial ATP synthase, which is responsible for the production of ATP. Ikarugamycin has been shown to induce autophagy in HL-60 cells and in a mouse model system. This compound also has anti-infective properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth and proliferation. The acetate extract from Ikarugamycin has also been shown to be an autophagy inducer.
