N'-Hydroxy-5,7-dimethylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carboximidamide is a potent and selective inhibitor of the ion channel TRPM8. It has been shown to inhibit TRPM8 by binding to the extracellular domain of the receptor. This inhibition leads to an increase in intracellular calcium levels and activation of downstream signaling pathways that are responsible for pain perception.
