Tixocortol is a corticosteroid that has been used for the treatment of bowel disease, skin cancer, and allergic symptoms. Tixocortol is a pivalate ester of hydrocortisone. This type of steroid is stable in the presence of air and light. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and may be used to treat inflammatory bowel disease or allergic symptoms.
