Dihydroferulic acid 4-O-β-D-glucuronide is a metabolite of dihydroferulic acid, which is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of lignin. Dihydroferulic acid 4-O-β-D-glucuronide has been shown to have neuroprotective properties and to be antimicrobial against several bacterial strains. It has also been found to inhibit the growth of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Dihydroferulic acid 4-O-β-D-glucuronide can be detected by mass spectrometry with a low detection limit.
