Description:4,5-Dihydrothiophene-2-carboxylic acid is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) inhibitor that belongs to the group of esters. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of GABA esters. 4,5-Dihydrothiophene-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the activity of transaminase C1–6 alkyl and the metabolism of GABA to succinic semialdehyde. This compound also inhibits c1–6 alkyl transaminase, which converts GABA into succinic semialdehyde.
