Product Information
Acivicin hydrochloride is a synthetic antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. It has been shown to be effective against viruses, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of viral proteins. Acivicin hydrochloride is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as some fungi. However, it is not effective against anaerobic microorganisms or parasites. Acivicin hydrochloride binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit in an anti-parallel orientation and blocks the attachment of amino acids to the tRNA binding site on the ribosome. This prevents protein synthesis by blocking the addition of amino acids to peptide chains, leading to cell death.
