Product Information

Name:
GPI-1046
Description:

GPI-1046 is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells. GPI-1046 has been shown to be effective in both cell culture and animal models. The drug is able to inhibit tumor growth by binding to PSMA, which prevents the tumor cells from taking up ceftriaxone, an antibiotic that is commonly used for treatment of prostate cancer. GPI-1046 has also been shown to induce neuronal death in experimental models of Parkinson’s disease. The mechanism by which this drug induces neuronal death may be due to its ability to bind with dopamine, glutamate, or acetylcholine receptors at high affinity. GPI-1046 also inhibits HIV infection and can be used as an experimental model for brain damage caused by ischemia.
