Product Information
Nudicaulin A is a triterpenoid saponin found in the plant Hedyotis nudicaulis. It has been shown to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. Nudicaulin A was extracted from the leaves of Hedyotis nudicaulis using ethanol, and purified by silica gel column chromatography and preparative thin layer chromatography. The structure of nudicaulin A was determined by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which showed that it is a mixture of two isomers, erythro-nudicaulin A (1) and threo-nudicaulin A (2). The compound's chemical structure contains a C-21 hydroxyl group, an olefinic bond at C-20, a double bond at C-19, an ester function at C-22, and four identical sugar moieties linked to the sugar backbone through glycosidic bonds.
