Description:CRT-0105950 is a novel small-molecule drug that sensitizes ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin. CRT-0105950 binds to the miR-200 family of microRNAs and inhibits their function. CRT-0105950 has been shown to increase the sensitivity of ovarian tumor cells in vitro and in vivo to cisplatin, with no evidence of toxicity. The mechanism by which CRT-0105950 enhances cisplatin cytotoxicity is not yet known but may involve modulation of the cell cycle or suppression of tumor growth factors. This drug also has potential applications in monitoring ovarian cancer patients during chemotherapy and for determining the phenotype of cancer cells.
