It has been shown to be a substrate for the transporter protein, which transports it into the cell. 1-Amino-2,5-anhydro-1-deoxy-D-mannitol has been used in the synthesis of arylamines with nitrous acid as a reducing agent. This process has been used to study the stereospecificity of reductive amination.
