Product Information
- 2,5-Anhydro-D-glucitol 6-(dihydrogen phosphate)
2,5-Anhydro-D-glucitol-6-phosphate is a phosphorylated derivative of D-glucitol 6 phosphate. It has been shown to be a major metabolic intermediate in the glycolytic pathway. 2,5-Anhydro-D-glucitol 6 phosphate is produced by the enzyme phosphofructokinase and hydrolyzed by the enzyme pyruvate kinase. The conversion of 2,5-anhydro -D-glucitol 6 phosphate to D -fructose 1 phosphate occurs at a rate that is dependent on the availability of oxygen. The activity of 2,5 anhydro -D-glucitol 6 phosphate in cells is also dependent on whether or not there are aerobic glycolytic enzymes present.
