3-O-Acetyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-6-O-trityl-b-L-arabino hexofuranos 5 Urolose is a custom synthesis of a complex carbohydrate that is not found in nature. This molecule has a number of modifications, including methylation and glycosylation. 3-O-Acetyl b L arabinoxylan can be used as a substitute for other complex carbohydrates, such as starch or glycogen. It can be manufactured by the click modification of D-xylose and D maltotriose with nitrous acid to form an acetal linkage. The methyl groups are then added to the sugar molecule with phosphorous pentoxide to form this product.
