The polymerization reaction produces polymers such as chitin and cellulose.2DG is also known as DGlcNAc, which is a sugar that is found in glycosphingolipids such as gangliosides and cerebrosides. This modification protects cells from damage by reactive oxygen species and has anti-inflammatory properties.
