2-Amino-2-deoxy-D-talose (2ADDT) is an intermediate in the synthesis of 2,3:4,5-di-O-acetylideneamino-2,3:4,5-di-O-methylideneamino D -talose. It is obtained by the hydrolysis of 2,3:4,5-di-O-acetylideneamino D -talose with hydrochloric acid and methanol. The product is a white solid that can be purified by recrystallization from water or ethanol.
2ADDT can be converted to 2,3:4,5-di - O - acetylideneamino D - talose by treatment with sodium methoxide in methanolic solution. 2ADDT also reacts with nitromethane in methanolic solution to produce d - lyxose and 1 deoxy 1 nitro
