Description:

Aloin A is a naturally occurring compound that is found in the roots of plants of the genus Aloe. It has been shown to have anti-HIV activity in toxicity studies. Aloin A is metabolized by hydroxylation, which results in a variety of metabolites with different pharmacokinetics and antimicrobial properties. The chemical diversity of aloin A may be due to its 4-hydroxycinnamic acid structure, which is a fatty acid. This natural product has been used as a pharmaceutical preparation for tissue culture and other uses.
