Benzoic acid-acyl-b-D-glucuronide is a conjugate of benzoic acid with acyl glucuronic acid. It is a naturally occurring fatty acid that is present in the human body. Benzoic acid-acyl-b-D-glucuronide binds to lipids and other hydroxylated compounds, and has been detected in urine samples of animals. This compound is metabolized by the liver into benzoic acid, which has an inhibitory effect on lipid synthesis in the liver. A chromatographic technique was used to identify benzoic acid-acyl-b-D-glucuronide from human liver tissue samples. Monoclonal antibodies were also used to detect this compound in human liver tissue samples.
