Potassium hydroquinone monosulfate (KHQMS) is a chemical substance that is used as a co-precipitant in the preparation of samples for analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography. It has hydroxyl groups on both ends and can be used to filter organic particles from water samples. The KHQMS can also be used for the removal of substances that interfere with analytical measurements, such as polysaccharides, polymers, proteins, lipids, and other organic molecules. This compound can be recycled and reused up to four times. It has been found to be effective in the extraction of phenolic compounds from leaves and granules. KHQMS is also used in bioanalytical methods for the determination of human urine samples.
