Product Information

Name:
Citromycin
Description:

Citromycin is a natural product isolated from the roots of the plant C. citrifolia. Citromycin has been shown to inhibit the production of certain inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β, in vitro and in vivo. This compound also inhibits neutrophil migration, which may be due to its ability to interfere with the formation of hydrogen peroxide. Citromycin also exhibits anti-fungal properties against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. Citromycin is a white crystalline powder that can be dissolved in DMSO or water. It is soluble in ethanol up to 1M and insoluble in ether. Citromycin does not exhibit any significant cytotoxicity against human cells at concentrations up to 50 μM.
