Curculigoside is a natural compound that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity and low dose-dependent activity against infectious diseases. Curculigoside exhibits antioxidant activity by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibiting lipid peroxidation in 3T3-L1 cells. Curculigoside also inhibits the growth of preadipocytes, which is an early event in the development of obesity, via inhibition of gsh-px activities. It also inhibits myocardial infarct size by reducing oxidative injury in rats. Curculigoside is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, which may lead to drug interactions.
